REVIEW OF THE OPERATION OF A REORGANIZED COURT VOLUNTEER PROGRAM THAT NOW INCLUDES THE ISLANDS OF OAHU, MAUI, KAUAI, AND HAWAII.
Abstract
THIS TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE PROJECT WAS UNDERTAKEN TO EVALUATE METHODS OF VOLUNTEER RECRUITMENT AND ORIENTATION, RECORD-KEEPING, COMMUNITY WORK, DISSEMINATION OF VOLUNTEER INFORMATION, AND USE OF PRIVATE FUNDS TO SUPPLEMENT THE PROGRAM. THE EVALUATION METHODOLOGY EMPLOYED INVOLVED INTERVIEWS, OBSERVATION OF OPERATIONS, AND A WORKSHOP. RECOMMENDATIONS WERE MADE FOR MAINTAINING VOLUNTEER MOTIVATION; EXPLORING INSURANCE, LIABILITY, AND LEGAL ISSUES INVOLVED IN THE PROGRAM, DEVELOPING FUNDING SOURCES; AND DEVELOPING VOLUNTEER LEADERSHIP. ADDITIONALLY, IT WAS RECOMMENDED THAT EFFORT BE CONCENTRATED ON IMPROVING THE MAJOR PROBLEM OF STAFF-VOLUNTEER RELATIONS. (AUTHOR ABSTRACT)...KAP
