Abstract
THE USE OF THE COMPUTER AIDED DISPATCH SYSTEM (CADS), COMPUTER AIDED POLICE RECORDS INDEX (CAPRI), AND INTERAGENCY INFORMATION EXCHANGE SYSTEMS AND HOTLINES SUCH AS THE METROPOLITAN AREA CRIME HOTLINE (MACH) HAVE IMPROVED DISPATCHING SPEED, ACCURACY, AND INFORMATION RETRIEVAL CAPABILITY. IN ADDITION TO TECHNOLOGICAL IMPROVEMENTS, THE PHOENIX POLICE DEPARTMENT HAS ESTABLISHED THE CRIME ANALYSIS UNIT (CAU) TO WATCH INDIVIDUAL CRIME PATTERNS. SEVERAL COMMUNITY RELATIONS PROGRAMS HAVE ALSO BEEN DEVELOPED TO INFORM THE PUBLIC ABOUT ITS ROLE IN SUPPORTING LAW ENFORCEMENT EFFORTS....TWH
