REPORT OF TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE PROVIDED TO THE MONTANA STATE PLANNING AGENCY (SPA) IN JUNE 1976 FOR DEVELOPING A SYSTEMATIC AND LONG-TERM APPROACH TO STATEWIDE JUDICIAL ADMINISTRATION ACTIVITIES.
Abstract
THE CONSULTANT MET WITH THE STATE COURTS COORDINATOR, THE BOARD OF CRIME CONTROL'S (MONTANA'S SPA) COURTS SPECIALIST, AND OTHER LOCAL OFFICIALS ON JUNE 7 AND 8, 1976 TO DISCUSS PLANNING PRIORITIES ESTABLISHED BY THE BOARD AND IDENTIFYING OTHER AREAS OF COURT OPERATIONS WHICH MIGHT WARRANT FURTHER STUDY. THE PLANNING PRIORITIES INCLUDED PROPOSED LEGISLATION FOR THE ESTABLISHMENT OF A STATE COURT ADMINISTRATOR'S OFFICE, JUDICIAL TRAINING AND EDUCATION PROGRAMS, AND THE PROPOSED DEVELOPMENT OF A STATE CRIMINAL JUSTICE INFORMATION SYSTEM. BROAD BASED RECOMMENDATIONS FOR FUTURE STUDIES ARE SET FORTH. APPENDIXES PROVIDE A LIST OF PERSONS CONTACTED DURING THE SITE VISIT AS WELL AS A DRAFT OF THE PROPOSED COURT ADMINISTRATOR LEGISLATION WITH THE CONSULTANT'S PROPOSED REVISIONS....EB
