Abstract
THE NEEDS AND PROBLEMS OF THE MISSISSIPPI JUDICIAL SYSTEM IN THE COMPONENT AREAS OF COURTS, PROSECUTION, INDIGENT DEFENSE, AND LAW REFORM. MAJOR PROBLEM AREAS ARE DEFINED IN THE TEXT, AND RECOMMENDATIONS FOR DEALING WITH EACH ARE OFFERED. IT IS EXPECTED THAT THE RESULTS OF THE FIRST PHASE OF TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE WILL CONTRIBUTE SIGNIFICANTLY TOWARD DEVELOPING AN EFFECTIVE CRIMINAL JUSTICE PLANNING METHODOLOGY IN THE STATE, AS WELL AS PROVIDE A NEW APPROACH FOR UTILIZING TECHNICAL RESOURCES IN COMPREHENSIVE STATE PLAN DEVELOPMENT.
