REPORT GIVES A BREAKDOWN ON LEAA COURT FUNDING FOR THE VARIOUS STATES.
Abstract
THE TASK FORCE ADDRESSED ITSELF TO SUPPLYING AN ACCOUNTING OF LEAA COURTS FUNDING SINCE 1972; DEVELOPING CRITERIA FOR CLASSIFICATION OF COURTS FUNDING; AND SUGGESTING IMPROVEMENTS FOR THE GRANTS AND MANAGEMENT INFORMATION SYSTEM (GMIS). THE TASK FORCE ALSO EXAMINED AWARDS CLASSIFIED BY JUDICIARY ALONE, PROSECUTION ALONE, DEFENSE ALONE, JUDICIARY WITH PROSECUTION AND/OR DEFENSE, JUDICIARY COMBINED WITH ANY OTHER COMPONENT, AND PROBATION ALONE. IT FOUND VARIOUS LISTINGS. A NUMBER OF GRANTS HAD DOUBLE ENTRIES DUE TO CLERICAL ERROR. SOME PROJECTS WERE SPREAD ACROSS A NUMBER OF DIFFERENT GRANTEES AND FUNCTIONAL AREAS, AND IN OTHERS THE AMOUNT OF MONEY THAT WENT TO COURTS DEPENDED UPON THE DEFINITION CHOSEN FOR A COURT PROJECT.
