REPRESSIVE CRIMES, DEFINED AS CRIMES WHICH ARE PERPETRATED TO MAINTAIN OR DEFEND PRIVILEGED POSITIONS OF POWER AND OWNERSHIP, ARE ANALYZED IN A NEW TYPOLOGY.
Abstract
THE PRIVILEGED INCLUDE ALL PERSONS AND GROUPS WHO EXERT CONTROL OVER THE MANUFACTURE OR DISTRIBUTION OF GOODS. ALL ILLEGAL POLITICAL ACTS BY THESE GROUPS ARE CHARACTERIZED AS REPRESSIVE CRIMES. LEGAL NORMS AND DEVIANCE ARE SEEN AS RELATIVE TO THE LAW, AND SHOULD BE VIEWED WITHIN THE LARGER CONTEXT OF CONFLICTS SURROUNDING THE DISTRIBUTION OF THE GROSS NATIONAL PRODUCT. THE TYPOLOGY INCLUDES THE SICILIAN MAFIA, KU KLUX KLAN, ELECTION FRAUD, POLICE REPRESSION, FASCISM, AND COLONIALISM. THE CONSEQUENCES OF THE TYPOLOGY FOR CRIMINOLOGICAL THEORY ARE DISCUSSED....MSP
