ARTICLE DESCRIBES CAMPUS POLICE TRAINING PROGRAM DESIGNED TO GIVE INFORMATION ON HANDLING CAMPUS PROBLEMS.
Abstract
THE PROGRAM WAS JOINTLY SPONSORED BY THE ILLINOIS STATE UNIVERSITY POLICE DEPARTMENT AND THE NORMAL AND BLOOMINGTON, ILLINOIS, POLICE DEPARTMENTS. THE PROGRAM CONSISTED OF THREE-HOUR, WEEKLY SESSIONS THAT ENDED AFTER SIX WEEKS. THE SESSIONS INCLUDED POLICE WORK AND STRESS ON THE FAMILY, UNDERSTANDING MINORITY GROUPS, COMMUNICATING WITH BLACKS, RAPE CRISIS, CONFRONTATION WITH A CROWD, AND FEAR IN THE LINE OF DUTY. OFFICERS COMPLETING THE PROGRAM DESCRIBED IT AS BENEFICIAL AND THOUGHT-PROVOKING....BS
