Abstract
FORMATTED AS A PRACTICAL GUIDE TO ACTION STRATEGIES, THE PUBLICATION PROVIDES A LINK WITH AMERICAN BAR ASSOCIATION POLICY ADVOCATING FORMAL SANCTIONS WHICH DEFINE AND PRESCRIBE OFFICIAL POLICY RELATING TO DIVERSIONARY ALTERNATIVES. TO THIS END, THERE ARE INCLUDED SEVERAL EXAMPLES OF AUTHORIZATION MEASURES IN THE FORM OF STATUTORY LAWS, JUDICIAL RULES, AND DEFINITIVE STANDARDS AND GOALS PRODUCED, AND IN MOST INSTANCES, ADOPTED BY SPONSORING ORGANIZATIONS. THESE MATERIALS WERE COLLECTED IN A SURVEY CONDUCTED BY THE NATIONAL PRETRIAL INTERVENTION SERVICE CENTER TO DETERMINE THE FORM AND SUBSTANCE OF FORMAL SANCTIONS TO INSTITUTIONALIZE PRETRIAL DIVERSION PROCESSES.
