THIS FEASIBILITY STUDY, DATED JANUARY 24, 1977, WAS PREPARED FOR THE CLIFTON (AZ) POLICE DEPARTMENT, WHOSE 10 PERSONNEL (6 SWORN) SERVE 6,000 (ESTIMATED) PEOPLE ON 7 SQUARE MILES.
Abstract
THE CONSULTANT FOUND THAT THE EXISTING FIRE AND POLICE SERVICES OF THE TOWN WERE DEFICIENT. RECOMMENDATIONS INCLUDED: THE DEVELOPMENT OF MORE SUPPORT FROM COMMUNITY RESIDENTS AND ELECTED OFFICIALS FOR MOVING TOWARD THE GOALS OF PROFESSIONAL POLICE ADMINISTRATION; DEVELOPMENT OF A PUBLIC SAFETY ORGANIZATION WHICH WILL PROVIDE EFFECTIVE DIRECTION OVER POLICE AND FIRE SERVICES; PROVISIONS FOR ADEQUATE TRAINING, COMPENSATION, EQUIPMENT AND FACILITIES, FOR THE PUBLIC SAFETY SERVICES; AND DEVELOPMENT OF STRONG ORGANIZATIONAL LEADERSHIP WITHIN THE PUBLIC SAFETY SERVICES.
