THE GOAL OF THE PROGRAM IS TO PROVIDE POTENTIAL HIGH SCHOOL DROP-OUTS WITH AN ALTERNATIVE LEARNING PROGRAM THAT INDIVIDUALIZES INSTRUCTION PROVIDING REMEDIAL WORK AND DEALING WITH PERSONAL AND SOCIO-EMOTIONAL PROBLEMS.
Abstract
THE FINDINGS OF THIS REPORT INDICATE THAT THE STUDENTS ENROLLED IN THE PROGRAM (APPROXIMATELY 40 AT A TIME) HAVE MADE REMEDIAL ACADEMIC PROGRESS, REDUCED ABSENTEEISM, REDUCED THE DROP-OUT RATE, AND HAVE EXPERIENCED AFFECTIVE ATTITUDE CHANGES. PRELIMINARY COST BENEFIT ANALYSIS SUGGESTS THAT DOLLAR COSTS OF THE PROGRAM WILL BE RETURNED. GENERALLY RECOMMENDATIONS FOR IMPROVEMENT INVOLVE DETAILS ABOUT THE ADMINISTRATION AND CURRICULAR OPERATION OF THE PROGRAM. THE EVALUATOR ALSO RECOMMENDS REFUNDING OF THE PROGRAM.
