Abstract
THE ROLE THE CRIMINAL HAS PLAYED HAS BEEN TO FORCE THE CITY'S DEPARTMENT OF PLANNING AND DEVELOPMENT TO EXAMINE THE DESIGN OF CITY NEIGHBORHOODS WITH A VIEW TOWARDS ADDING MORE SECURITY BY MAKING PHYSICAL CHANGES. THE MAJOR FOCUS HAS BEEN ON BRINGING PEOPLE OUT OF THEIR HOMES AND APARTMENTS TO GET TO KNOW ONE ANOTHER, TO LEARN TO LIKE INSTEAD OF FEAR THEIR NEIGHBORS, AND TO CUT CRIME IN CITY NEIGHBORHOODS WITHOUT HAVING TO HIRE MORE COPS....ELW
