THIS ARTICLE EXAMINES THE LACK OF SECURITY IN THE AVIATION INDUSTRY CONCERNING TICKET FRAUD, HIJACKINGS, AND CARGO THEFT.
Abstract
THE INTERNATIONAL AVAILABILITY OF AIRLINE TICKETS HAS ALLOWED FRAUD IN CONNECTION WITH THEM TO FLOURISH. THERE IS PRESENTLY INADEQUATE CONTROL OVER THE FRAUDULENT USE OF AIRLINE TICKETS. PREVENTION OF HIGH-VALUE THEFTS HAS PRESENTED ANOTHER PROBLEM FOR AIRLINE SECURITY. THE AUTHOR BELIEVES THAT THE NEED FOR SECURITY HAS NOT BEEN FULLY APPRECIATED BY AIRLINE MANAGEMENT. PILFERAGE AT THE AIRPORT IS ALSO A COMMONLY OVERLOOKED AREA. HIJACKING AND SABOTAGE ARE OTHER AREAS THE AUTHOR EXAMINES. AT THE MOMENT, AIRLINES ARE MAINTAINING THEIR OWN SECURITY. THIS SITUATION SHOULD BE CHANGED, THE AUTHOR BELIEVES, AND THE HOST GOVERNMENTS SHOULD PLAY A MAJOR ROLE IN PROVIDING ADEQUATE SECURITY FOR THE AIRLINES....BDS
