THE LOS ANGELES WITNESS PROJECT IS ONE OF THE FIRST COURT-RELATED ENTITIES IN CALIFORNIA TO MAINTAIN A CHILD CARE CENTER, FREE OF CHARGE, FOR ALL PARENTS APPEARING IN COURT WHO ARE WITHOUT ALTERNATIVE CHILD CARE.
Abstract
THE CENTER ACCOMMODATES CHILDREN FROM TWO TO NINE YEARS OF AGE. THE TEACHER-CHILD RATIO IS NORMALLY 12 STUDENTS PER ADULT FOR CHILDREN 5 YEARS OLD AND OLDER AND SLIGHTLY LESS FOR INFANTS OR TODDLERS. THIS MANUAL DESCRIBES THE EDUCATIONAL GOALS OF THE CHILD CARE CENTER, EXPLAINS WHO CAN USE THE SERVICES, AND OUTLINES THE WAYS IN WHICH PARENTS ARE REFERRED. OTHER INFORMATION, INTENDED FOR CENTER PERSONNEL, IS PROVIDED ON CENTER RULES AND OPERATING PROCEDURES AND THE QUALIFICATIONS AND DUTIES OF CENTER TEACHERS AND VOLUNTEERS. SELECTED INFORMATION IS PRESENTED IN BOTH SPANISH AND ENGLISH.... ELW
