A FEASIBILTY STUDY OF A PROGRAM WHICH WOULD HAVE POLICE OFFICERS BUY AND MAINTAIN THEIR OWN PATROL CARS WITH A CITY ALLOWANCE IN PALM SPRINGS (CA).
Abstract
THE STUDY CONSISTS OF SURVEYING OFFICERS TO GAUGE THEIR ACCEPTANCE OF SUCH A PROGRAM , DETERMINING PROJECTED COSTS OF THE PROGRAM, AND DETERMINING WHAT BENEFITS WOULD RESULT FROM SUCH A PROJECT BOTH FOR THE CITY AND THE INDIVIDUAL OFFICER. THE PROGRAM WAS FOUND TO BE FEASIBLE IN SOME MODIFIED FORM ESPECIALLY FOR USE IN THE PLAIN CLOTHES DETAIL OF THE POLICE DEPARTMENT. THE AUTHOR RECOMMENDS THAT A PILOT PROGRAM BE IMPLEMENTED AND FURTHER RESEARCH BE CONDUCTED. TABLES SHOWING STUDY RESULTS AND PATROL CAR SPECIFICATIONS ARE INCLUDED...TWH
