Abstract
CRIMINAL ACTIVITIES SUCH AS COUNTERFEIT TITLE OPERATIONS AND SALVAGE OPERATIONS ARE BECOMING MORE COMMON, THE PAMPHLET EXPLAINS. BUT THE ABILITY TO DETECT AND PUT AN END TO THESE OPERATIONS ARE SIMPLE IF ONE KNOWS WHAT TO LOOK FOR. STOLEN VEHICLE IDENTIFICATION NUMBERS ARE A TYPICAL WAY THAT STOLEN VEHICLES ARE ALTERED AND THEN RESOLD. ONE SECTION OF THE PAMPHLET DISCUSSES THE SECURITY OF AUTO DEALERSHIPS. THIEVES HAVE STOLEN CARS THROUGH TRYOUTS, STOLEN IGNITION KEYS, POOR INVENTORY CONTROL, AND POOR LOT SECURITY.
