'NON-TRADITIONAL CRIME' IS A COLLECTIVE DESCRIPTOR FOR ORGANIZED CRIME, WHITE COLLAR CRIME, OUTLAW GANG ACTIVITIES, TERRORISM, AND TRAVELING CRIMINALS AND MULTIJURISDICTIONAL CRIMES.
Abstract
THIS ARTICLE EXAMINES WHAT NON-TRADITIONAL CRIME IS, HOW IT CONCERNS EACH OF US, HOW SERIOUS THE PROBLEM IS, AND WHAT CAN BE DONE ABOUT IT. IT IS SUGGESTED THAT ANY DISCUSSION OF COUNTERMEASURES INCLUDE EDUCATING THE PUBLIC AS THE FIRST AND FOREMOST COUNTERMEASURE. ONE COMPREHENSIVE EDUCATIONAL PROGRAM IN OPERATION, WHICH IS DESIGNED SPECIFICALLY FOR THE PUBLIC ON NON-TRADITIONAL CRIME AND COUNTERMEASURES, IS A PART OF THE CURRICULUM OF THE MODESTO JUNIOR COLLEGE IN MODESTO, CALIFORNIA. ENTITLED 'NON-TRADITIONAL CRIME: PROBLEMS AND SOLUTIONS,' IT IS A TWO-SEMESTER COURSE WHICH TREATS THE SCOPE OF THE PROBLEM OF NON-TRADITIONAL CRIME AND ALTERNATIVE SOLUTIONS TO THE PROBLEM.
