THIS ARTICLE DESCRIBES A PROGRAM IN OPERATION IN ALBUQUERQUE (NM) WHICH USES TELEVISION RE-ENACTMENTS OF UNSOLVED CRIMES TO ENCOURAGE CITIZENS TO PROVIDE INFORMATION ABOUT THE CRIMES TO POLICE.
Abstract
CITIZENS WHO SUPPLY INFORMATION WHICH LEADS TO THE ARREST AND INDICTMENT OF OFFENDERS ARE PAID UP TO $1,000 FOR THE INFORMATION. IN THE FIRST FIVE MONTHS OF OPERATION, ONE HUNDRED AND TWENTY FOUR CASES WERE CLEARED AS A DIRECT RESULT OF THE CRIME STOPPERS PROGRAM. ELEVEN INDICTMENTS AND THREE CONVICTIONS WERE ALSO OBTAINED....EB
