THIS PAMPHLET, A REPRINT OF CHAPTER TWO OF THE JUDICIAL COUNCIL'S 1977 ANNUAL REPORT, CONTAINS A COMPREHENSIVE SET OF RULES DESIGNED TO IMPROVE PROCEDURES, PRACTICE, AND ADMINISTRATION IN THE JUVENILE COURTS.
Abstract
THE RULES RESTATE BASIC STATUTORY PROCEDURES AS INTERPRETED BY CASE LAW AND ESTABLISH PROCEDURES IN THOSE AREAS WHERE THE STATUTES PROVIDE INADEQUATE GUIDANCE. THE PRIMARY SOURCES AND SECONDARY REFERENCES RELIED UPON ARE IDENTIFIED FOR EACH RULE AND THE INTENT UNDERLYING EACH RULE IS COMMENTED UPON. INDIVIDUAL CHAPTERS COVER PRELIMINARY PROVISIONS, THE COMMENCEMENT OF JUVENILE COURT PROCEEDINGS, THE GENERAL CONDUCT OF JUVENILE COURT PROCEEDINGS, DETENTION HEARINGS, NONSTATUTORY PROCEDURES, FITNESS HEARINGS, JURISDICTION HEARINGS, DISPOSITION HEARINGS, INTERCOUNTY TRANSFERS, AND MODIFICATIONS AND APPEALS.
