A COMMUNITY-WIDE EDUCATION PROGRAM, ESTABLISHMENT OF A YOUTH JURY, INCREASED POLICE SURVEILLANCE AND PATROL, AND THE PASSING OF A LOCAL ORDINANCE TO DUPLICATE THE STATE STATUTUES ON VANDALISM ARE RECOMMENDED.
Abstract
THE COMMITTEE'S INTENT IN AN EDUCATIONAL PROGRAM WOULD BE TO MAKE THE CITIZENRY MORE AWARE OF THE PROBLEM AND TO CREATE A CLIMATE WHICH WOULD DISCOURAGE VANDALISM. POLICE SURVEILLANCE AND PATROL HAS BEEN AN EFFECTIVE PREVENTIVE MEASURE IN THE PAST, AND IT IS RECOMMENDED THAT IT BE FURTHER INCREASED. IT IS FURTHER SUGGESTED THAT THE POLICE BE TRAINED TO TAKE CITIZENS' COMPLAINTS AND REPORTS OF VANDALISM SERIOUSLY. IN PASSING A LOCAL ORDINANCE TO DUPLICATE STATE STATUTES, THE COMMITTEE INTENDS TO MAKE PARENTS AWARE OF THEIR RESPONSIBILITY FOR THEIR CHILDREN'S ACTS OF VANDALISM....RCB
