RESULTS OF A COMMUNICATION SYSTEMS STUDY CONDUCTED FOR THE DENVER (CO) POLICE DEPARTMENT, WHICH HAS A POLICE STRENGTH OF 1,670 (1,380 SWORN) SERVING A POPULATION OF 516,000 IN A 112.8 SQUARE MILE AREA.
Abstract
DATED JUNE 24, 1977, THIS REPORT WAS PREPARED TO ASSIST THE DENVER POLICE DEPARTMENT IN PERFORMING A GENERAL COMMUNICATIONS NEEDS ASSESSMENT COVERING ALL PUBLIC SAFETY AGENCIES IN DENVER, AND IN EXAMINING FREQUENCY AVAILABILITY AND COMPATIBILITY RELATIONSHIPS WITH OTHER AGENCIES. THE STUDY RECOMMENDED THAT THE DENVER POLICE DEPARTMENT COMMUNICATIONS SYSTEM CONVERT FROM A PART VHF, PART UHF SYSTEM TO A COMPLETE UHF SYSTEM. IT WAS ALSO RECOMMENDED THAT THE CITY CONSIDER CONSOLIDATING THE BACK UP SYSTEMS FOR ALL OF THE PUBLIC SAFETY AGENCIES AT THE POLICE RADIO MAINTENANCE FACILITY AND THAT IT CONSIDER INSTALLING A MICROWAVE LINK....DMC
