THE ARTICLE DEALS WITH MANAGEMENT INFORMATION SYSTEMS AND SUGGESTS THAT EARLY POLICE EXPERIENCE IN COMPUTER APPLICATIONS IN THE OPERATIONAL POLICING FIELDS HAVE TO SOME EXTENT BEEN MARKED BY 'TECHNOLOGICAL PUSH.'
Abstract
THIS IS SEEN AS THE NOT WHOLLY UNDESIRABLE IMPACT GENERATED BY IMPORTED TECHNOLOGY, OUTSIDE ADVISERS, AND UNDULY PASSIVE POLICE EXECUTIVES. IT IS ARGUED THAT ONE OF THE MAJOR LESSONS OF RECENT YEARS HAS BEEN THE REQUIREMENT TO DEVELOP AN EFFECTIVE FORM OF 'MANAGEMENT PULL,' OR THE ABILITY FOR POLICE EXECUTIVES TO CONTROL THE ADAPTATION TO THE DEMANDS OF COMPUTERIZATION.
