THIS PROGRAM EVALUATION WAS UNDERTAKEN FOR THE CITY OF CLEVELAND HEIGHTS (OH) DIVISION OF POLICE WHOSE 99 SWORN OFFICERS SERVE APPROXIMATELY 61,000 RESIDENTS OF AN 8.2 SQUARE MILE AREA.
Abstract
THE OBJECTIVES OF THE PROGRAM ARE AS FOLLOWS: SCIENTIFIC PLANNING OF PATROL RESOURCE DEPLOYMENT; SCIENTIFIC DEPLOYMENT OF SUPPORT (NON-PATROL) RESOURCES; EFFECTIVE SUPERVISION AND MONITORING OF THE PATROL ACTIVITY; MOTIVATION AND INDOCTRINATION OF POLICE PERSONNEL IN THE IMPORTANCE OF THE PATROL FUNCTION; AND, REDUCTION IN CRIME WITH PARTICULAR EMPHASIS ON INDEX CRIMES. A NOTICEABLE REDUCTION IN CRIME CONTINUED AS THE PROGRAM CONCLUDED ITS ONE AND ONE-HALF YEAR EXISTENCE.
