THIS REPORT PRESENTS THE GENERAL TRENDS IN RESEARCH AND POLICY MAKING IN THE SCANDANAVIAN COUNTRIES.
Abstract
AS IN MANY OTHER EUROPEAN COUNTRIES, CRIMINOLOGICAL RESEARCH IN SCANDANAVIA TRADITIONALLY TAKES PLACE AT THE UNIVERSITIES. GOVERNMENT RESEARCH UNITS ALSO CONDUCT STUDIES IN A NUMBER OF COUNTRIES. A TYPICAL FEATURE OF SCANDANAVIAN CRIMINOLOGY HAS BEEN A HEAVY ORIENTATION TOWARDS SOCIOLOGICAL RESEARCH. SOME EXAMPLES OF PRESENT-DAY CRIMINOLOGICAL RESEARCH IN SCANDANAVIA ARE PROVIDED. FINALLY, CRIMINAL SANCTIONS AND DECRIMINALIZATION IN SCANDANVIAN COUNTRIES ARE DISCUSSED...DMC
