X-RAY SPECTRA OF HUMAN SEMEN, URINE, SALIVA, AND SWEAT WERE CHARTED AND THE SPECTRUM OF THE SUBSTRATA SUBTRACTED WITH THE AID OF A COMPUTER-INTERFACED X-RAY DETECTION SYSTEM; THE BODY FLUIDS WERE EFFECTIVELY IDENTIFIED.
Abstract
BECAUSE IT IS DIFFICULT TO IDENTIFY BODY FLUIDS CONTAINING DIFFERING CONCENTRATIONS OF SODIUM, PHOSPHORUS, SULPHUR, CHLORINE, POTASSIUM, CALCIUM, AND OTHER TRACE ELEMENTS THROUGH COVENTIONAL LABORATORY METHODS, X-RAY SPECTRA WERE CHARTED FOR FLUID SAMPLES TAKEN FROM FIVE DIFFERENT PERSONS. SEMEN, URINE, SALIVA, AND SWEAT STAINS WERE DEPOSITED ON NEWSPRINT PAPER, GRAZED PAPER, AND CLOTH. TO AID IN SEPARATION OF STAIN AND SUBSTRATA SPECTRA, X-RAY COMPARISON WAS MADE OF THE UNSTAINED AND STAINED PORTION OF THE SUBSTRATA. FROM URINE, THE SPECTRA OF SODIUM, PHOSPHORUS, SULPHUR, CHLORINE, AND POTASSIUM WERE GENERATED, BUT CALCIUM WAS NOT DETECTED; CHLORINE HAD A HIGH PEAK IN ALL INDIVIDUALS. IN SALIVA, POTASSIUM SHOWED THE HIGHEST PEAK, CHLORINE AND POTASSIUM WERE AT ALMOST THE SAME LEVEL, WHILE PHOSPHORUS AND SULPHUR WERE NOT OBVIOUS. DIFFERENCES BETWEEN PEAK HEIGHTS OF CHLORINE AND POTASSIUM WOULD HELP DIFFERENTIATE URINE FROM SALIVA. IN SWEAT ONLY SODIUM AND CHLORINE SHOWED CLEAR PEAKS. THE SEMINAL STAINS SHOWED SMALL PEAKS OF ALL ELEMENTS WITH CHLORINE SLIGHTLY PRONOUNCED. SPECTOGRAMS OF EACH ANALYSIS ARE PRESENTED; THE PROCESS OF
