MINIMUM STANDARDS NECESSARY TO MAXIMIZE THE COMPETENCY OF ARMORED CAR AND ARMORED COURIER SERVICES ARE PRESENTED IN AN EFFORT TO INCREASE THE EFFECTIVENESS OF SUCH SERVICES AND REDUCE INCIDENTS OF CRIMINAL ATTACK.
Abstract
THIS REPORT IS INTENDED PRIMARILY TO SERVE AS A GUIDE FOR OWNERS AND MANAGERS OF ARMORED CAR AND ARMED COURIER SERVICES, ALTHOUGH IT WOULD ALSO BE USEFUL TO OTHER COMPONENTS OF PRIVATE SECURITY, LAW ENFORCEMENT, THE GENERAL PUBLIC, AND THE CONSUMER BY IMPROVING THEIR KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING OF SUCH SPECIALIZED PROTECTIVE SERVICES. THIRTY STANDARDS DEALING WITH PERSONNEL, TRAINING, EQUIPMENT, PERFORMANCE, AND REGULATION ARE PROVIDED. SPECIFIC TOPICS INCLUDE PREEMPLOYMENT SCREENING, QUALIFICATIONS FOR ARMED PERSONNEL, ETHICS, PREASSIGNMENT AND BASIC TRAINING, SUPERVISOR AND MANAGER TRAINING, PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT, VEHICLE CONSTRUCTION, COMMUNINCATIONS EQUIPMENT, TERMINAL SECURITY, ROUTE SCHEDULING, INSURANCE, AND PRIVATE SECURITY LICENSING. TWO FIREARMS QUALIFICATION PROGRAMS DEVELOPED SPECIFICALLY FOR SECURITY PERSONNEL ARE APPENDED. REFERENCES AND RELATED STANDARDS ARE CITED. (KBL)
