Abstract
THE PROGRAMS DESCRIBED ARE IN MISSOURI. PROGRAM SUMMARIES INCLUDE INFORMATION ON SELECTION PROCESSES, NUMBER OF CLIENTS, FUNDING SOURCES, PROGRAM CONTENT, REFERRAL PROCESSES, PROGRAM COSTS, AND EVALUATION. AMONG THE PROGRAMS DESCRIBED ARE THE FOLLOWING: JOB SEMINARS AND WOMEN'S JOB TRAINING IN INDEPENDENCE; A MODEL INMATE WORK RELEASE PROGRAM; A COMMUNITY SERVICE CENTER DESIGNED TO REDUCE RECIDIVISM FOR EX-OFFENDERS; A COMMUNITY COLLEGE-BASED JOB READINESS PROGRAM; A SHORT-TERM TRAINING AND PLACEMENT PROGRAM FOR UNEMPLOYED, DISADVANTAGED PERSONS; AND A SCREENING AND PLACEMENT PROGRAM THAT PAYS CLIENTS WHILE THEY ARE IN TRAINING. ALSO DESCRIBED ARE: THE MISSOURI VITAL INFORMATION FOR EDUCATION AND WORK (VIEW) PROJECT, PART OF A NATIONWIDE PROGRAM TO CLASSIFY AND DISSEMINATE OCCUPATIONAL INFORMATION ON A LOCAL LEVEL; EMPLOYMENT PROJECTS IN ST. LOUIS; A WORKSHOP AND CONSULTATION PROGRAM; AN EMPLOYMENT GROUP THERAPY PROGRAM FOR PAROLEES; A STUDY OF LAWS, LICENSES, AND OFFENDERS' RIGHT TO WORK; THE MISSOURI STATE EMPLOYMENT SERVICE; AN EMPLOYMENT PROGRAM FOR HIGH SCHOOL DROPOUTS BETWEEN THE AGES OF 16 AND 22; AND OTHER STATE AND REGIONAL TRAINING AND/OR PLACEMENT PROGRAMS IN MISSOURI.
