THE ILLINOIS PLAN FOR MEETING FEDERAL REQUIREMENTS WITH REGARD TO THE PRIVACY AND SECURITY OF CRIMINAL HISTORY RECORDS IS PRESENTED.
Abstract
THE PLAN OPENS WITH A DEFINITION OF CRIMINAL JUSTICE INFORMATION SYSTEMS AND A REVIEW OF ILLINOIS' EFFORTS TO DEVELOP UNIFORM CRIMINAL JUSTICE INFORMATION SYSTEM POLICIES. THE STRUCTURE AND ACTIVITIES OF ILLINOIS LAW ENFORCEMENT COMMISSION ADVISORY COMMITTEES ON INFORMATION SYSTEMS ARE DESCRIBED, AS ARE SEVEN MAJOR CRIMINAL JUSTICE INFORMATION SYSTEMS IN ILLINOIS. THE SCOPE OF THE ILLINOIS PLAN IS OUTLINED, AND PROCEDURES ARE SET FORTH RELATIVE TO COMPLETENESS AND ACCURACY OF DATA, LIMITS ON DISSEMINATION, AUDITS AND QUALITY CONTROL, SECURITY, AND INDIVIDUAL RIGHT OF ACCESS AND REVIEW. THE PLAN DOES NOT ENCOMPASS THE OFFICE OF THE ATTORNEY GENERAL OR THE ILLINOIS COURTS AND PROBATION DEPARTMENTS UNDER THE COURTS. CERTIFICATION DOCUMENTS, A SCHEDULE FOR IMPLEMENTING THE PLAN, SAMPLE FORMS, AND OTHER SUPPORTING DOCUMENTS ARE INCLUDED. A SEPARATE, REVISED VERSION OF THE PLAN FOR DISSEMINATION AND SECURITY IS ATTACHED.
