TARGETS FOR STRIKING BLOWS IN LIFE-THREATENING ATTACKS ARE DESCRIBED IN THIS FILMSTRIP AND CASSETTE TO BE USED IN TEACHING SELF-DEFENSE TO FEMALE STUDENTS AND OTHER WOMEN.
Abstract
IT IS STRESSED THAT, AS THE TARGETS PRESENTED ARE THE MOST EFFECTIVE ONES FOR COUNTERING SERIOUS ATTACKS, THEY MAY CAUSE INJURY OR DEATH AND SHOULD BE USED ONLY WHEN PROTECTING ONE'S LIFE. THE TARGETS, OR VULNERABLE AREAS OF THE BODY, ARE THE EYES, THE TESTICLES, THE WINDPIPE, THE ELBOW, AND THE KNEE. VICTIMS ARE URGED TO USE ALL OF THEIR STRENGTH WHEN STRIKING BLOWS TO THESE AREAS, TO MOVE VERY QUICKLY, AND TO RUN TO THE NEAREST PLACE FOR HELP AS SOON AS THE ATTACKER IS DISABLED. SECONDARY TARGETS TO BE USED IN A SERIOUS ATTACK WHEN THE PRIMARY TARGETS ARE NOT AVAILABLE ARE ALSO DEPICTED. THESE SECONDARY TECHNIQUES SHOULD BE USED ONLY IN COMBINATION WITH OTHER DEFENSE MEASURES AS THEY MAY NOT BE SUCCESSFUL ALONE. AS A WOMAN'S ABDOMEN IS VERY VULNERABLE, IT IS VERY IMPORTANT THAT VICTIMS OF AN ATTACK PROTECT THAT AREA OF THE BODY.
