THE INFORMATION AND STATISTICS PRESENTED IN THIS REPORT CONSTITUTE AN ASSESSMENT OF THE STATEWIDE CRIME PROBLEM.
Abstract
THE REPORT WAS COMPILED FROM THE MONTHLY UNIFORM CRIME REPORTS SUBMITTED TO THE POLICE INFORMATION NETWORK BY NORTH CAROLINA LAW ENFORCEMENT AGENCIES FOR THE YEAR 1976. OF THE SEVEN INDEX CRIMES, SIX REFLECTED DECREASES OVER 1975. VIOLENT CRIMES AS A GROUP DECREASED OVER 7 PERCENT. LARCENY WAS THE ONLY INDEX CRIME TO REFLECT AN INCREASE OVER 1975. CRIMES OF LARCENY ROSE 13 PERCENT OVER 1975 AND DUE TO THE VOLUME OF LARCENY ALONE, THE TOTAL VOLUME OF REPORTED CRIME ROSE 4 PERCENT. ALSO INCLUDED IN THIS REPORT ARE ARREST DATA.
