THE LAST VOLUME OF A NINE-PART SERIES DOCUMENTING PROCEDURES FOR IMPLEMENTING THE NOSR COMMUNITY YOUTH WORK EXPERIENCE PROGRAM MODEL DESCRIBES THE PROGRAM'S MONITORING, PLACEMENT, AND FOLLOWUP COMPONENTS.
Abstract
THE MONITORING COMPONENT INVOLVES CHECKS ON WORK STATIONS, CLASSROOM ACTIVITIES, AND THE PROGRESS OF PROGRAM ENROLLEES. THE ENROLLEE-PROGRAM CONTRACT IS THE PRINCIPAL TOOL FOR MONITORING THE PROGRESS OF CLIENTS. OTHER PROGRAM-RELATED MONITORING DEVICES INCLUDE REGULAR WRITTEN EVALUATIONS BY WORK SUPERVISORS AND TEACHERS, REGULAR COUNSELING CONFERENCES, AND PRETESTS AND POSTTESTS. ADMINISTRATIVE TECHNIQUES FOR MONITORING ENROLLEE PROGRESS INCLUDE REVIEW OF THE ENROLLEE FILE BY PROGRAM SUPERVISORS, STAFF CONFERENCES BETWEEN COUNSELORS AND SUPERVISORS, AND CASE ANALYSIS. CLERICAL MEASURES INVOLVED IN MONITORING ENROLLEE PROGRESS ARE NOTED, AND THE MINIMUM MONITORING-RELATED CONTENT OF THE INDIVIDUAL CLIENT FILE IS DESCRIBED. CURRICULAR AREAS THAT SHOULD BE COVERED IN PREEMPLOYMENT TRAINING SESSIONS ARE OUTLINED, AND GUIDELINES ARE OFFERED WITH REGARD TO JOB DEVELOPMENT ACTIVITIES, PLACEMENT AND OTHER POSITIVE OUTCOMES OF PROGRAM PARTICIPATION, AND FOLLOWUP ELEMENTS (THE EXIT INTERVIEW, CLIENT CONTACTS FOR MORAL SUPPORT, EMPLOYMENT VERIFICATION, AND FOLLOWUP VISIT TO THE PLACE OF EMPLOYMENT).
