Abstract
THE HEARINGS WERE HELD BY THE U.S. SENATE JUDICIARY SUBCOMMITTEE TO INVESTIGATE JUVENILE DELINQUENCY IN AN EFFORT TO DETERMINE THE EXTENT OF THE USE OF CHILDREN IN PORNOGRAPHIC MATERIALS, THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN CHILD PORNOGRAPH AND CHILD PROSTITUTION, POSSIBLE DAMAGE TO THE CHILDREN, AND THE NEED FOR FEDERAL LEGISLATION. THE TRANSCRIPTS PRESENT TESTIMONY BY PARENTS, MINISTERS, SOCIAL WORKERS, POLICE OFFICIALS, A JUVENILE ACTUALLY ENGAGED IN CHILD PORNOGRAPHY, AND A MAN CONVICTED FOR PRODUCING PORNOGRAPHIC MOVES. EXPERT WITNESSES ALSO COVERED FIRST AMENDMENT PROTECTION FOR PORNOGRAPHIC MATERIALS AND THE LEGALITY OF SUCH MATERIALS UNDER VARIOUS STATUTES. AN APPENDED STUDY SUMMARIZES THE FIVE FEDERAL STATUTES FROM CONNECTICUT, NORTH CAROLINA, NORTH DAKOTA, SOUTH CAROLINA, TENNESSEE, AND THE CITY OF VERNON, TEXAS.
