ACTIVITIES UNDERTAKEN BY THE CALIFORNIA COUNCIL ON CRIMINAL JUSTICE TO BUILD PERMANENCE INTO THE STATE'S LEAA PROGRAM AND TO ENCOURAGE INTERGOVERNMENTAL COOPERATION IN ANTICRIME PROGRAM PLANNING ARE REPORTED.
Abstract
THE DOCUMENT PROVIDES A STEP-BY-STEP DESCRIPTION OF THE INTERGOVERNMENTAL-ORIENTED PLANNING PROCESS USED TO IDENTIFY AND REFINE THE 16 PRIORITY ANTICRIME PROGRAMS ADOPTED BY THE COUNCIL. THE PROGRAM DEVELOPMENT PROCESS AND LEGISLATIVE INITIATIVES DESCRIBED REFLECT THE STATE'S EFFORTS TO BUILD ON LESSONS LEARNED FROM LEAA-FUNDED EFFORTS. THE SUMMARY OF PLANNING AND DEVELOPMENT PROCESSES AND LEGISLATIVE INITIATIVES IS ACCOMPANIED BY SUPPORTING DOCUMENTATION ON THE GOALS AND OBJECTIVES OF PRIORITY PROGRAMS AND PROGRAMS REGARDING COMMUNITY CRIME RESISTANCE, VICTIM-WITNESS ASSISTANCE, CAREER CRIMINAL PROSECUTION, CAREER CRIMINAL APPREHENSION, MULTISERVICE YOUTH AND FAMILY PROGRAMS, AND COUNTY JUSTICE SYSTEM SUBVENTION. THE COUNCIL'S GUIDING PRINCIPLES AND POLICIES ARE APPENDED. (LKM)
