THE SECTION ON VICTIM/WITNESS SERVICES CITES 26 ARTICLES, BOOKS, AND REPORTS ON THE NEED FOR VICTIM/WITNESS SERVICES; THE FUNCTIONS OF SUCH SERVICES IN PROVIDING PROTECTIVE, SUPPORTIVE, AND EDUCATIONAL ASSISTANCE; IMPLEMENTATION OF SERVICES TO ASSIST RAPE VICTIMS, BATTERED WIVES, AND OTHER VULNERABLE VICTIMS; THE ELEMENTS OF EFFECTIVE PROGRAMS; AND THE EVALUATION OF SPECIFIC PROGRAMS. THE SECTION ON COMPENSATION AND RESTITUTION LISTS 32 PUBLICATIONS COVERING THE HISTORY AND FUNCTION OF VICTIM COMPENSATION PROGRAMS IN THE UNITED STATES AND ELSEWHERE; THE ROLE OF THE STATE IN PROVIDING COMPENSATION AND RESTITUTION; THE TYPES OF SERVICES PROVIDED; AND DETAILS OF PROGRAM OPERATION, ELIGIBILITY, AND LEGAL STATUS.
