THIS 1977 DIRECTORY OF STATE AND REGIONAL ASSOCIATIONS IN THE FIELD OF CRIMINAL JUSTICE EDUCATION WAS PREPARED BY THE ACADEMY OF CRIMINAL JUSTICE SCIENCES.
Abstract
IN 1967, THERE WERE NO MORE THAN 60 COLLEGIATE INSTITUTIONS OFFERING EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMS IN CRIMINAL JUSTICE. IN 1977, THERE WERE OVER 1,100 SUCH PROGRAMS. DURING THE 10-YEAR PERIOD, CRIMINAL JUSTICE EDUCATION WAS THE FASTEST GROWING FIELD OF STUDY IN THE ENTIRE HISTORY OF HIGHER EDUCATION. ALLIED STATE AND REGIONAL ASSOCIATIONS SERVED MORE THAN 200,000 STUDENTS NATIONALLY IN 1977, AND THE ACADEMY OF CRIMINAL JUSTICE SCIENCES HAD APPROXIMATELY 4,000 MEMBERS.
