THE TEXT ANALYZES AND PRESENTS GUIDELINES ON THE RELATIONSHIPS BETWEEN THE ORGANIZATION, MANAGEMENT, AND TACTICS OF RESEARCH, THE RESEARCH PROCESS AND OUTCOMES, AND THE IMPACT AND UTILIZATION OF RESEARCH RESULTS.
Abstract
THE BOOK IS COMPOSED OF SECTIONS CONSISTING OF MAJOR SUBJECT CHAPTERS FOLLOWED BY DISCUSSION CHAPTERS. THE FIRST SECTION PRESENTS PAPERS ON SOCIOLOGICAL ANALYSIS OF RESEARCH, AND THE SECOND SECTION CONTAINS DISCUSSIONS ON THEORY, THEORY BUILDING, AND THE RELATION OF THEORY TO RESEARCH. DUE TO THE IMPORTANCE OF EVALUATIVE DESIGNS, A SECTION IS DEVOTED TO MODELS FOR DEMONSTRATION AND APPLIED RESEARCH. AN ANALYSIS OF THE ORGANIZATION STRUCTURES PERTAINING TO CONTEMPORARY RESEARCH IS PRESENTED, AND ALTERNATIVE RESEARCH ORGANIZATIONAL STRUCTURES ARE OUTLINED. A SECTION IS INCLUDED ON MANAGERIAL AND TACTICAL PROBLEMS INVOLVED IN DATA COLLECTION, PROCESSING, AND ANALYSIS. GUIDELINES AND PRACTICAL TECHNIQUES TO SOLVE THE PROBLEMS ARE SUGGESTED. THE IMPLEMENTATION OF RESEARCH IS CONSIDERED; THE MAJOR PAPER ON THIS SUBJECT DISCUSSES ELEMENTS FOR DESIGNING AND MANAGING A RESEARCH PROJECT UNDER THE HEADINGS COOPERATION OF SUBJECTS AND ORGANIZATIONS, RELIABILITY, VALIDITY, PRECISION, AND EFFICIENCY. THE FINAL CHAPTERS EXAMINE THE INTEGRATION OF THEORY AND PRACTICE, THE ROLE FOR PRACTITIONER-RESEARCHERS, AND THE NEED FOR THE DEVELOPMENT OF A FIELD OF RESEARCH UTILIZATION.
