PROPOSED REGULATIONS GOVERNING COURT REPORTING IN THE CONNECTICUT SUPERIOR COURT ARE PRESENTED. A COMMENTARY EXAMINES THE ORIGIN AND PURPOSE OF THE PROPOSED REGULATIONS AND THEIR INCORPORATION OF PRIOR RULES.
Abstract
THESE PROPOSED REGULATIONS COVER QUALIFICATIONS FOR COURT REPORTERS, FULL-TIME EMPLOYMENT, PART-TIME EMPLOYMENT, WORK LOCATIONS AND TRAVEL, GENERAL SUPERVISION, DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES, TRANSCRIPT PREPARATION AND FORMAT, MAINTENANCE AND STORAGE OF NOTES AND TAPES, AND EXTENSIONS OF TRANSCRIPT DELIVERY TIME. APPENDICES CONTAIN SAMPLE ATTENDANCE FORMS, TRANSCRIPT NOTIFICATION FORMS, RELEASES FOR OUTSIDE EMPLOYMENT, AND OTHER DOCUMENTS NEEDED FOR COMPLIANCE WITH THE REGULATIONS. THE COMMENTARY EXAMINES THE PURPOSE OF EACH REGULATION AND SUGGESTS CHANGES WHICH SHOULD BE MADE BEFORE THE REGULATIONS BECOME FINAL. THE DISPOSITION OF FORMER REGULATIONS-REGULATIONS CONCERNING COURT REPORTERS, REGULATIONS CONCERNING COURT RECORDING, FORMAT REGULATIONS FOR TRANSCRIPT PREPARATION-ARE ALSO DISCUSSED. (GLR)
