THIS 1977-1978 ANNUAL REPORT OF THE GEORGIA ADMINISTRATIVE OFFICE OF THE COURTS PRESENTS STATISTICAL AND NARRATIVE DATA ON ALL LEVELS OF COURTS, AGENCIES OF THE JUDICIAL COUNCIL, AND OTHER JUDICIAL AGENCIES.
Abstract
THE ADMINISTRATIVE OFFICE OF THE COURTS WAS DIRECTED FROM AN INITIAL EMPHASIS IN 1977 ON GATHERING AND COMPILING BASIC INFORMATION ON THE COURTS TO A GREATER CONCENTRATION OF EFFORT ON SUPPORT SERVICES TO THE JUDICIAL BRANCH AS A WHOLE AND TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE TO LOCAL COURTS. EXPENSE STATISTICS AND ACTIVITY SUMMARIES ARE PRESENTED ON THE OFFICES COMMUNICATION, EDUCATION, RESEARCH AND PLANNING, AND TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE PROGRAMS. USE OF TELEVISION AND STILL CAMERAS IN THE STATE'S COURTS WAS INITIATED DURING THE YEAR, MANDATORY EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMS FOR TRAINING JUDGES AND OTHER COURT PERSONNEL WERE ESTABLISHED, AND THE AUTHORITY FOR THE COURTS' RECORDS SYSTEM WAS TRANSFERRED. CASELOAD STATISTICS FOR APPELLATE, SUPERIOR, STATE, JUVENILE, PROBATE, AND OTHER COURTS ARE GIVEN. ACTIVITIES OF THE AGENCIES OF THE JUDICIAL COUNCIL ARE REVIEWED. (DAG)
