THE NATIONAL EVALUATION OF THIS PROGRAM, WHICH PROVIDES FOR SPECIAL PROSECUTION OF REPEAT OFFENDERS, WILL FOCUS ON FOUR INDIVIDUAL SITES. THE SITE-SELECTION PROCESS IS DESCRIBED AND FOUR CITIES ARE RECOMMENDED.
Abstract
THE SITES SUGGESTED ARE: COLUMBUS, OHIO; KALAMAZOO, MICH.; NEW ORLEANS, LA.; AND SAN DIEGO, CALIF. ALL HAVE COLLECTED GOOD BASELINE DATA, HAVE MEASURABLE GOALS, AND HAVE DEVELOPED PROGRAMS WHICH ARE CONSISTENT WITH THE PURPOSES OF LEAA'S CAREER CRIMINAL PROJECT. VISITS TO THE CITIES WERE PART OF THE SITE-SELECTION PROCESS, WHICH IS DESCRIBED IN DETAIL. THE PAPER ALSO GIVES AN OVERVIEW OF THE CAREER CRIMINAL PROGRAMS IN EACH OF THE 11 CITIES UNDER CONSIDERATION: BOSTON, MASS.; COLUMBUS, OHIO; DALLAS, TEX.; DETROIT, MICH.; HOUSTON, TEX.; INDIANAPOLIS, IND.; KALAMAZOO, MICH.; NEW ORLEANS, LA.; NEW YORK CITY; SALT LAKE CITY, UTAH; AND SAN DIEGO, CALIF.
