THE ACTIVITIES OF THE LAW REFORM COMMISSION OF BRITISH COLUMBIA DURING ITS NINTH FULL YEAR OF OPERATION ARE REPORTED.
Abstract
THE COMMISSION WAS ESTABLISHED BY LAW IN JULY 1969 AND HAS FOCUSED ITS ATTENTION ON CIVIL LAW. THE REPORT SUMMARIZES THE COMMISSION'S PROGRESS IN THE AREAS OF DEBTOR-CREDITOR RELATIONSHIPS (ENFORCEMENT OF JUDGMENTS, REVIEWABLE TRANSACTIONS, OBSOLETE LAWS, CROWN LIENS, JOINT LIABILITY), LAW OF DAMAGES (PERSONAL INJURY CLAIMS, A FAMILY COMPENSATION LAW), STATUTORY LAW REVISION (APPLICATIONS OF ENGLISH LAW IN BRITISH COLUMBIA), CIVIL PROCEDURE (PUBLIC INTEREST AND CLASS ACTION LITIGATION), THE PAROL EVIDENCE RULE (PERTAINING TO CONTRACTS), ARBITRATION, AND ESTATES. COMMISSION MEMBERS ARE IDENTIFIED, AND THE AVAILABILITY OF COMMISSION PUBLICATIONS IS NOTED. LEGISLATIVE AND GOVERNMENTAL ACTION ON COMMISSION REPORTS DURING 1978 IS SUMMARIZED, AS ARE THE COMMISSION'S COOPERATIVE ACTIVITIES WITH GOVERNMENT AND LAW REFORM AGENCIES.
