Abstract
THE SECURITY OFFICERS AT A HOSPITAL, FACTORY, OR BANK MAY BE ASSIGNED TO A STATIONARY POST, TO FOOT PATROL, OR A VEHICLE PATROL. PUBLIC RELATIONS IS ONE OF THE MOST IMPORTANT ASPECTS OF THE SECURITY OFFICERS' JOB. OFFICERS SHOULD BE ATTENTIVE TO CHANGES IN THEIR DAILY ASSIGNMENTS AND SHOULD PAY ATTENTION TO THEIR DAILY BRIEFINGS. THE LAYOUT OF THE GUARDED FACILITY SHOULD BE WELL-KNOWN BY THE SECURITY PERSONNEL. SUCH ASPECTS OF THE FACILITY AS THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM SHOULD BE OPERABLE BY THE SECURITY OFFICERS SO THAT POWER MAY BE SHUT OFF IN EMERGENCIES. ALARM BOXES AND MASTER CONTROL SYSTEMS OUGHT TO BE AVAILABLE FOR USE BY THE OFFICERS, AND THE OFFICERS MUST BE TRAINED IN THE USE OF FIRE EXTINGUISHERS AND OTHER FIREFIGHTING EQUIPMENT. BY CAREFULLY CHECKING EMPLOYEE IDENTIFICATION, SECURITY PERSONNEL WILL BE ABLE TO PREVENT THE ENTRY OF DISMISSED EMPLOYEES. ON PATROL, THE OFFICERS SHOULD SEARCH FOR DAMAGED FENCES, HIDDEN STOLEN EQUIPMENT, AND ANY OTHER UNUSUAL CONDITION. THE OFFICERS SHOULD BE VISIBLE AND MUST KEEP MOVING THROUGH THE PATROL AREA DURING DAYTIME PATROL. HOWEVER, DURING NIGHT PATROL THE OFFICERS OUGHT TO MOVE QUIETLY, STAY IN SHADOWED AREAS, AND LISTEN FOR SUSPICIOUS SOUNDS. THE DISPATCHER SHOULD BE NOTIFIED WHENEVER AN OFFICER LEAVES HIS VEHICLE. WHETHER ON PATROL OR IN AN OFFICE, SECURITY PERSONNEL SHOULD ALWAYS BE ALERT AND MUST REPORT ANY PROBLEMS. (TWK)
