THIS PROCEDURE MANUAL, DESIGNED FOR USE THROUGHOUT THE U.S. TELLS TEACHERS HOW TO IMPLEMENT THE CURRICULUM AND EVALUATION SYSTEM OF A DADE COUNTY, FLA., LAW EDUCATION PROGRAM FOR JUNIOR AND SENIOR HIGH SCHOOLS.
Abstract
THE PROGRAM INCLUDES ELECTIVE COURSES ON THE CRIMINAL AND CIVIL (CONSUMER) JUSTICE SYSTEMS. THE PROGRAM WAS DEVELOPED BY THE LAW EDUCATION GOALS AND LEARNING (LEGAL) PROJECT OPERATED BY THE DADE COUNTY SCHOOL BOARD AND SUPPORTED BY AN ELEMENTARY AND SECONDARY EDUCATION ACT (TITLE IV) GRANT. PROGRAM IMPLEMENTATION HAS THREE PARTS: MANAGER ORIENTATION, TEACHER SELECTION AND TRAINING, AND STUDENT SELECTION AND EDUCATION. THE MANUAL DESCRIBES IN DETAIL THE ADMINISTRATION OF PRETESTS AND POSTTESTS, THE NATURE AND USE OF STUDENT SOURCEBOOKS AND INSTRUCTIONAL GUIDES. NAMES AND TELEPHONE NUMBERS OF DADE COUNTY OFFICIALS AND COMMUNITY RESOURCE PERSONS TO CONTACT REGARDING FIELD STUDY ACTIVITIES ALSO ARE INCLUDED. AN EXTENSIVE REFERENCE LIST GROUPS SUGGESTED PRINTED AND AUDIOVISUAL MATERIALS BY TOPIC (GENERAL, CRIMINAL LAW, CONSUMER LAW).
