FOUR ADDITIONAL NATIONWIDE PROGRAMS, AN INCREASE IN STAFF, AND THE ONSET OF A $15 MILLION FUND CAMPAIGN HAVE MARKED THIS REPORTING PERIOD FOR THE NATIONAL CENTER FOR STATE COURTS.
Abstract
A NONPROFIT ORGANIZATION DEDICATED TO THE MODERNIZATION OF COURT OPERATIONS AT THE STATE AND LOCAL LEVEL, THE NATIONAL CENTER FOR STATE COURTS DESCRIBES THE CORE-FUNDED ACTIVITIES PERFORMED BY THE CENTER IN 1978. THE REPORT COVERS THE GOVERNING BODIES OF THE CENTER; THE WORK OF THE OFFICE OF THE DIRECTOR; THE REORGANIZATION OF THE ADMINISTRATION DIVISION; AND PUBLICATIONS DEPARTMENT BOOKS OF 1978 ON TOPICS OF WOMEN IN THE COURTS, SMALL CLAIMS COURTS, AND PRETRIAL DELAY AS WELL AS THE CENTER'S REGULAR PUBLICATIONS. PROMOTIONAL AND PUBLIC RELATIONS EFFORTS ALSO ARE DESCRIBED. AN OVERVIEW OF SECRETARIAT SERVICES IS PROVIDED THAT INCLUDES A LIST OF THE EIGHT NATIONAL ORGANIZATIONS SERVED BY THE CENTER AS THEIR SECRETARIAT AND A DESCRIPTION OF THE SERVICES OFFERED SUCH AS PUBLICATIONS, RESEARCH, TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE, AND CONFERENCES AND MEETINGS. THE REPORT ALSO DESCRIBES THE WASHINGTON LIAISON OFFICE. THE EXPANSION OF THE MANAGERIAL STAFF OF THE PROGRAMS DIVISION IS DISCUSSED AS WELL AS A STAFF FUNDING AND DATA PROCESSING SYSTEM. NEW PROJECT SOURCES AND EVALUATION ACTIVITIES ALSO ARE DESCRIBED. PROGRAMS DIVISION LIBRARY, RESEARCH AND INFORMATION SERVICE, AND TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE ACTIVITIES ARE INCLUDED. (AOP)
