Abstract
SIX MONOGRAPHS IN THE REPORT PROVIDE INFORMATION ON CORRECTIONAL RESEARCH AND EVALUATION IN GENERAL, HISTORICAL ANTECEDENTS OF THE U.S. CORRECTIONAL SYSTEM, RESEARCH IN CORRECTIONS, DATA ANALYSIS IN CORRECTIONAL SETTINGS, COMPUTER TECHNOLOGY APPLICATIONS FOR CORRECTIONS, AND RESEARCH AND DECISIONMAKING. PARTICULAR ATTENTION IS PAID TO ACCOUNTABILITY IN REHABILITATION AND TREATMENT, PENAL POLICIES, PUNISHMENT, HUMANISTIC REFORM, RECIDIVISM, PSYCHOTHERAPY, RESEARCH DESIGNS AND METHODS, MISUSES OF EVALUATION, BENEFITS OF EVALUATION RESEARCH, COMPUTER APPLICATIONS (SIMULATION, SYSTEMS ANALYSIS, AND OPERATIONS RESEARCH), AND FACTORS IN ASSURING CORRECTIONAL SYSTEM ACCOUNTABILITY.
