Abstract
THE REPORT OPENS WITH A NARRATIVE PROFILE OF CORRECTIONS IN FLORIDA, FOLLOWED BY DETAILS OF DATA SOURCES. PROJECTIONS OF BLACK AND NON-BLACK INMATE POPULATIONS THROUGH THE YEAR 2000 ARE THEN PRESENTED. THE REMAINDER OF THE REPORT PROVIDES TABULAR DATA, GENERALLY FOR 1972-76, ON AVERAGE DAILY INMATE POPULATION, COMMITMENTS, RELEASES, AGE OF COMMITMENTS, SEX AND RACE OF AVERAGE DAILY POPULATION, COUNTY OF COMMITMENT, CMMITTING OFFENSE, AND AVERAGE LENGTH OF STAY. OTHER PRISON DATA INCLUDE CAPACITY AND DESIGN FEATURES OF FACILITIES, AVERAGE COST PER INMATE, EXPENDITURES, INMATE-STAFF RATIOS, AND STAFF SALARIES.
