THIS INFORMATION BROCHURE OUTLINES THE SERVICES OF THE ILLINOIS BUREAU OF IDENTIFICATION AND PROVIDES THE LOCATIONS OF THE VARIOUS BUREAU OFFICES.
Abstract
THE BUREAU PROVIDES THE CRIMINAL JUSTICE SYSTEM OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS WITH A WIDE VARIETY OF SUPPORT SERVICES DESIGNED TO PROVIDE COMPLETE AND ACCURATE CRIMINAL JUSTICE INFORMATION TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT POSSIBLE. THE BUREAU PROVIDES ASSISTANCE TO POLICE, SHERIFFS, THE DIVISION OF INVESTIGATION, ILLINOIS STATE POLICE, FEDERAL BUREAU OF INVESTIGATION, SECRET SERVICE, TREASURY DEPARTMENT, STATE'S ATTORNEYS, CIRCUIT CLERKS, COURTS, AND OTHER CRIMINAL JUSTICE AGENCIES. SERVICES OF THE FOLLOWING AGENCIES ARE DEFINED: CRIMINAL RECORDS AND IDENTIFICATION SERVICES, CRIME STUDIES SERVICES, FIELD SERVICES, FIREARM OWNERS IDENTIFICATION SERVICE, AND COPPER PURCHASE REGISTRATION. A CONFIDENTIAL INFORMATION BULLETIN IS PUBLISHED BY THE BUREAU EVERY OTHER MONTH AND DISSEMINATED TO LAW ENFORCEMENT AGENCIES. A NEW BUREAU, THE BUREAU OF SCIENTIFIC SERVICES, PROVIDES LABORATORY AND POLYGRAPH SUPPORT. AN AUXILIARY SERVICE OF THIS BUREAU CONDUCTS TRAINING SESSIONS IN FINGERPRINT PROCESSING AND PHYSICAL EVIDENCE EVALUATION FOR PERSONNEL IN CHARGE OF PROCESSING FINGERPRINTS AND COLLECTING PHYSICAL EVIDENCE. A LISTING OF SERVICES OFFERED BY THE BUREAU OF SCIENTIFIC SERVICES IS PROVIDED. MAPS AND DIRECTORIES PROVIDE THE LOCATIONS OF OFFICES.
