Abstract
WITH MUCH OF THE COURSE BASED ON A 30-MINUTE TRAINING FILM, THIS MANUAL FOR THE STUDENT DISCUSSES THE 5 MOST COMMON KINDS OF HIGHWAY-RELATED EMERGENCY CALLS (ALL DEPICTED IN THE FILM): A HIGHWAY ACCIDENT, A MEDICAL EMERGENCY, A DISABLED VEHICLE EITHER BLOCKING OR NOT BLOCKING THE TRAFFIC, A CARELESS OR RECKLESS DRIVER, AND TRAVELER ASSISTANCE. CONSIDERATION IS GIVEN TO THE TOOLS NECESSARY FOR MONITORING, THE SPECIFIC FCC RULES THAT APPLY TO CB CHANNEL 9, TECHNIQUES THAT HELP INSURE GOOD INFORMATION TRANSFER, AND INFORMATION LOGGING AND RECORD KEEPING. THE MANUAL PROVIDES A STATEMENT OF THE COURSE'S OBJECTIVES, STUDENT QUALIFICATIONS, ROOM FOR NOTE-TAKING, AND A DIAGRAM OF THE CHANNEL 9 EMERGENCY PROCEDURE.
