THIS VOLUME IS INTENDED TO SERVE AS A RESOURCE DIRECTORY OF CHILD PROTECTIVE SERVICES AND PROGRAMS CONCERNING CHILD ABUSE AND NEGLECT IN EIGHT SOUTHEASTERN STATES.
Abstract
THE STATES INCLUDE ALABAMA, FLORIDA, GEORGIA, KENTUCKY, MISSISSIPPI, NORTH CAROLINA, SOUTH CAROLINA, AND TENNESSEE. THE DIRECTORY FIRST LISTS NATIONAL RESOURCES IN THE FIELDS OF ADVOCACY, HEALTH AND WELFARE, EDUCATION AND TRAINING, THE JUDICIARY, AND LAW ENFORCEMENT. REGIONAL RESOURCES ARE ALSO PROVIDED. NEXT, THE DIRECTORY DESCRIBES THE STATE LEVEL RESOURCES WHICH WERE IDENTIFIED BY STATE LEVEL CHILD PROTECTIVE SERVICES PERSONNEL IN EACH OF THE EIGHT STATES. THE LAST PART DESCRIBES ALL RESOURCES AND SERVICES AVAILABLE AT THE LOCAL LEVEL, BASED ON DATA FROM 1978 MAIL SURVEYS OF COUNTY SOCIAL SERVICES DIRECTORS AND STATE AND NATIONAL ORGANIZATIONS. COMMUNITY RESOURCES LISTED INCLUDE LOCAL CHILD PROTECTIVE SERVICES AGENCIES; MEDICAL AND HEALTH FACILITIES; EDUCATIONAL INSTITUTIONS; VOLUNTARY AND PRIVATE SOCIAL AGENCIES INVOLVED IN TREATMENT, PREVENTION, AND RESPITE SERVICES; CHILD CARE INSTITUTIONS; AND JUDICIAL AND LAW ENFORCEMENT AGENCIES. FOR EACH AGENCY, THE ADDRESS, TELEPHONE NUMBER, CONTACT PERSON, AND DESCRIPTIONS OF ORGANIZATION AND SERVICES TO PARENTS ARE INCLUDED.
