A LAW PROFESSOR DISCUSSES THE INSTITUTE FOR JUDICIAL ADMINISTRATION-AMERICAN BAR ASSOCIATION STANDARDS RELATING TO SCHOOLS AND EDUCATION.
Abstract
THE SPEAKER WAS ONE OF THE CONTRIBUTORS TO THE VOLUME OF STANDARDS TITLED 'SCHOOLS AND EDUCATION' DEVELOPED ON THE PREMISE THAT YOUNGSTERS IN TROUBLE IN SCHOOLS TEND TO BE THE YOUNGSTERS IN TROUBLE OUT OF SCHOOLS. AFTER DISCUSSING THE PHILOSPHY BEHIND THE STANDARDS, HE CONSIDERS IN DETAIL THE PROCEDURES AND SANCTIONS CONCERNING STUDENT CONDUCT AND SERIOUS DISCIPLINARY PROBLEMS, WITH EMPHASIS ON THE STUDENTS' RIGHT TO COUNSEL. THE AUDIOTAPE CASSETTE IS INTENDED FOR AUDIENCES ALREADY FAMILIAR WITH THE STANDARDS. A TABLE OF CONTENTS IS INCLUDED, BUT NO FURTHER SUPPORTING MATERIALS ARE PROVIDED.
