PART OF A SIX-VOLUME SERIES ON THE ROLES AND FUNCTIONS OF THE PROSECUTOR, THIS COMPILATION DISCUSSES A VARIETY OF SPECIAL PROBLEMS FACED BY A PROSECUTOR.
Abstract
WITH THE INCIDENCE OF LEGAL MALPRACTICE INCREASING, PUBLIC LAWYERS, ESPECIALLY ON THE LOCAL LEVEL, ARE CONCERNED ABOUT THEIR INDIVIDUAL LIABILITY. ONE ARTICLE ADDRESSES THESE PROBLEMS. ANOTHER AREA DISCUSSED IS CONTINUING EDUCATION FOR THE PROSECUTOR. LAWYER SPECIALIZATION PROGRAMS HAVE GROWN RECENTLY AND MORE AND MORE LAWYERS ARE REQUIRED TO PARTICIPATE IN A LEGAL EDUCATION COURSE AS A CONDITION OF LICENSE RENEWAL. THE SPECIAL UNIT, A NEW PHENOMENON IN THE OFFICE OF THE PROSECUTOR IS DISCUSSED WITH EMPHASIS ON THE EXPANDING ROLE OF THE PROSECUTOR IN JUVENILE JUSTICE CASES; DEVELOPMENT OF CONSUMER FRAUD UNITS WHICH ATTACK ECONOMIC CRIMES; THE CAREER CRIMINAL PROGRAM WHICH SEEKS OUT THE REPEAT OFFENDER LOOSE ON THE STREETS; AND THE FORMATION OF ORGANIZED CRIME UNITS AT THE LOCAL, STATE, AND FEDERAL LEVELS. SEVEN REFERENCES ARE INCLUDED.
