PLANS FOR THE DEVELOPMENT OF ALASKA'S NOME YOUTH RESIDENTIAL CENTER ARE PRESENTED.
Abstract
THE FACILITY RECEIVED INITIAL FUNDING IN 1978. IT WILL ACCOMMODATE ABOUT 11 ADJUDICATED JUVENILES WHO HAVE BEHAVIORAL/EMOTIONAL PROBLEMS OR WHO ARE ORDERED BY THE COURT SYSTEM TO BE DETAINED FOR NONVIOLENT CRIMES. FURTHERMORE, IT IS INTENDED FOR JUVENILES WHO DO NOT NEED A SECURE FACILITY AND WHO ARE UNABLE TO REMAIN IN THEIR OWN HOMES. SINGLE ROOMS, A DAY ROOM, A LIVING ROOM, AND DINING SPACE WILL BE CONFIGURED IN A RESIDENTIAL MANNER. THE REPORT INCLUDES SECTIONS DEVOTED TO PLANNING CONCEPTS, SERVICE AND ARCHITECTURAL PROGRAM RATIONALE, THE PROPOSED SPACE PROGRAM, AND BUILDING DEVELOPMENT CONCEPTS. TABLES, DIAGRAMS, AND FOOTNOTES ARE PROVIDED, AND APPENDIXES CONTAIN PLANNING DOCUMENTS AND DATA, AND 12 REFERENCES.
